This 700-bedded hospital provide curative services up to regional level for the third, sixth, seventh division and mid-section of Sarawak.
This hospital complex comprises of extensive specialist clinic service, Accident & Emergency, X-Ray, Operating Theatres, Physiotheraphy, Psychiatric, T.B., Maternity & Medical Ward.
Due to poor soil condition, the hospital is planned on a series of single storey blocks (with the exception of wards) radiating off the main “Hospital Street” spine. Two other spines which run parallel to the hospital street are the international hospital service spine and the spine for visitors to the ward. The spread-out approach take accounts of local building conditions and future growth.
The complex is set amidst park like setting with lush hospital landscape. The concealed walkway “spines” provide not only clarity in direction and also lessen the dependence on vertical and mechanical transportation systems.
